Star Wars: Agent of the Empire Announced

News of a new Star Wars series from Dark Horse has hit the net this week with the announcement of Star Wars: Agent of the Empire.

Here’s what the Official Site had to say about the story.

Dark Horse Comics revealed at C2E2 a new upcoming Star Wars series, Agent of the Empire, by John Ostrander. Set during the time of the Galactic Empire, prior to the events of Episode IV A New Hope, the new series focuses on an Imperial intelligence agent whose undercover assignments take him across the galaxy to exotic locales, filled with danger and intrigue. Ostrander describes it as Star Wars, with a touch of James Bond and the Bourne series. The series is scheduled for a December 2011 release.

Further to the announcement of Agents of the Empire writers John Jackson Miller and John Ostrander swapped tweets on the news that writers were being directed to steer clear of the 19 years between the two trilogies.

John Jackson Miller said of the era between trilogies “That’s some pretty valuable real estate.” In response John Ostrander tweeted. “So George is playing there, Mr Lucas, you really don’t want to be going there because you don’t know what he will be doing and there are continuity minefields to avoid, if you can.”

Could this be a reference to the long-dormant live action series? Only time will tell.
