Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced during yesterday’s Disney Investor Day 2020 webcast that Season 3 of The Mandalorian from series creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will be premiering during the Christmas 2021 time frame. This date falls a little bit later in the calendar year compared to the Disney+ premiere dates for Season 1 (November 12, 2019) and Season 2 (October 30, 2020) of the live-action series.
Favreau said back in October that he expected production on Season 3 to begin sometime before the end of this year and that it would not be heavily impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Christmas 2021 premiere might indicate that the pandemic has had at least some affect on the production of Season 3, though this is purely an assumption/speculation on our part.
Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Imperial Moff Gideon, mentioned a fourth season for The Mandalorian during an interview segment he conducted with People TV earlier this year, so fans shouldn’t worry about the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu coming to an end anytime soon.
