We continue our Holiday Gift Guide for 2020 with a look at a couple of Funko Pop! Vinyl releases from The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and sold by PopInABox.co.uk.
Funko put out more Pop! Vinyl products each month than drinks sold at the Mos Eisely cantina, at least it feels that way! That is not necessailry a bad thing though, as it ensures there is a product for everyone, no matter your favourite show. They have been producing Star Wars inspired Pop! Vinyl for a decade and in that time they have released over 400 unique items. We take a look at a couple of current 2020 releases from The Mandalorian and the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
This year celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and licensees have been releasing lots of products to commemorate the occasion. I particularly like this two-pack set of Pop! Vinyl’s from Funko, entitled Han Solo & Princess Leia and retailing for £19.99, that showcases the poignant scene before Han Solo is frozen in carbonite, as Leia declares her love for Han; ‘I love you!’, ‘I know’.
This two-pack looks splendid and I particularly like the way the sculptors have bound Han’s hands together (try saying that after a few drinks!), and Leia’s hair and sculpt. This is a classic two pack and is a great way to celebrate this film.
It is hard to believe that the Disney+ phenomenon of The Mandalorian is only 13 months old, it first aired on November 12th, 2020, and since then the series and its characters have captured our hearts (and our wallets). Funko have brought many of the characters to life in Pop! Vinyl form, and this Television Moment from The Mandalorian sees the titular character paired with The Child in a scene from the second chapter of season 1.
Both the Pop! Vinyls are mounted on a dark tan base depicting the wastelands of Arvala-7, and they cannot be removed. The cot is supported on a transparent beam to depict it floating, with The Child nestled safely inside. Din Djarin features splatters of mud across his helmet and he looks splendid in his pre-Beskar armour. Funko have captured the cute look of Grogu well with his big black eyes and oversized ears.
This Television Moment looks fantastic and would work well for anyone who enjoys The Mandalorian series on Disney+ or who has been introduced to these characters in pop culture, it retails for £29.99.
