Scent of a Wookiee

The Telegraph update with a feature on Al Pacino and news of why he turned down the role of Han Solo:

Al Pacino is probably best known for playing hard-bitten criminals and cops, but his career could have taken a more otherworldly turn had he taken up an offer from George Lucas. During An Evening With Pacino in London this weekend, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that he could have starred in Star Wars as Han Solo. Pacino said: “It was mine for the taking but I didn’t understand the script.” Han Solo instead became the role that kick-started Harrison Ford’s career. However, Ford wasn’t the first choice: Lucas didn’t want to use an actor he had worked with before (the two had previously collaborated on American Graffiti), and Jack Nicholson, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray we all considered, alongside Pacino, as potential Solos.
