Investigating a failed assassination attempt on the Emperor, Darth Vader was led to an unknown moon where he discovered the orbiting remains of a Star Destroyer – and no survivors. Vader determined that the destruction was caused by a single blast from the moon below.
Landing on the moon, Vader and his guards faced fearsome creatures, all the while being followed by a hired assassin.
Unseev by Vader, the assassin cut down the guards, leaving Vader alone to continue his mission. Now, as Darth Vader enters an ancient temple, the assassin patiently waits and watches for his prey to return.
We continue latest Darth Vader mini-series with Scripter Tim Siedell, Penciller Stephen Thompson, Inkers Mark Irwin and Drew Geraci, Colorist Michael Atiyeh, Letterer Michael Heisler and Cover Artist Ariel Olivetti at the helm.
The Story
After tracking down the birth place of the colossal beam protruding from a moon, Darth Vader has pursued on foot in the dense forest, fighting tyrannical beasts while being unknowingly tracked by an assassin. Finally Darth Vader has reached the source of the beam. As he enters a temple, he is welcomed by mysterious beings…
The Review
Darth Vader seems to fall for the story from the strange monk about how he is the savior of their people etc. etc. a little too easily but on the other hand he does enjoy people bowing down at his knees. We also see a glimpse of the white Darth Vader and memories of past iconic duels and future ones as the Dark Lord has an insight into his more alternative fate.
On a more critical note, this issue, like many others, still doesn’t show much movement from the assassin. I’ve also noticed that the illustrations for the front pages don’t really suit the story line inside e.g. On the front page of the current issue #4, it is seen to have Darth Vader fighting a tyrannical beast stating that ‘No beast is too big for a Dark Lord’. See, this front page really should have been put on the last issue where he is seen fighting colossal beasts. Although there rather is a quite spectacular explosion to round off this apparent penultimate issue which is available now from Dark Horse Comics for only $3.50 (£1.95)!
