Over the past few days there’s been increasing discussions in fandom regarding the potential release date of Episode VII, specifically whether or not it will be released in its traditional May slot, a summer release or more controversially in a winter slot.
To add further to the discussion we’ve heard the following via the infamous ‘unnamed source’.
Talk of a December release is premature and the release date is currently planned for Summer 2015. Not May but late June. However, there’s a lot of talk that 11/11 is the favoured date. The reasons are three-fold.
- It’s a simple date format that works for international marketing.
- In November it will have a free run in Disney Studios release schedule.
- Two weeks after its release it will catch the repeat family showings over Thanksgiving.
However right now it appears to be water cooler talk rather than anything concrete.
So, if this rumour is to be believed we are currently looking at a June 2015 release for Episode VII but 11th November is an outside bet.
