Almost everyone I know has written their opinions on the new characters or talked about them in a podcast, even I have done that. I still feel I need to share my thoughts as Fangirl on the characters but I want to do it in a short, fun and different way. So here is what I am going to do. For each character I am going to relate them to a Disney character. Star Wars and Disney are one big family now so I figured why not try this out and see what I come up with.
Shall we start ladies first?
Hera Syndulla: Voiced by Vanessa Marshall

Let me first say that Vanessa Marshall is becoming one of my favorite voice actors and not because of the traditional reasons i.e. her previous work. She has really taken a shine to the Star Wars fan community and embraced us. I love how she is enjoying Fangirling out with all of us and sharing her love of Star Wars. One thing I can see is her true passion for not only voice acting but strong female characters and Star Wars. Way to go Vanessa top notch!
What I like in a nutshell:
Hera looks great so far I love that she is the heart of the group and the mother figure that holds everything together, this only strengthens her for me. Also the ghost belongs to her!
What I want to know:
What happened to her that got her to be where she is in Rebels. How the attacks on Ryloth in the Clone Wars affected her. How she came into possession of the Ghost.
What Disney Character She Reminds Me Of:
Sally from Cars and Nala from The Lion King

Why:
Sally moves to Radiator Springs to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Soon she becomes a mother type figure trying to help keep Radiator Springs alive. Her heart is amazing and she fights for what is right. She won’t let some young whipper snapper get away with destroying her home. Nala is strong, independent and she is trying to help keep the lions in their home. She is the voice of reason to Simba and all the other lions.
Sabine Wren: Voiced By Tiya Sircar

What I like in a nutshell:
I love her look, the hair, the face, the outfit all of it. I love her personality traits the words spunky and feisty are great words and I think it will serve her well. I love that she is the demolitions expert talk about breaking the typical stereotype! Another aspect I like is the artist even if it is graffiti. She will have an edge and I like that.
What I want to know:
Is she a true Mandalorian or did she get the armor some how? How come she is on her own where is her family? How she will interact with Ezra and Zeb.
What Disney character she reminds me of:
Meg from Hercules with a little bit of Anna from Frozen and Rapunzel from Tangled

Why?
Meg is bold, brash, sassy and has some serious spunk. She finds herself on the wrong side of things but always comes to the light side. She is damaged and has horrors in her past which I am sure Sabine does too. Meg loves unconditionally and deep down is looking for a family. I think this could mirror Sabine in many ways.
Chopper: otherwise known as C1-10P

What I like in a nutshell:
That he is not like R2-D2. For this show we needed to have a droid that was different and reflected the times. He has a nice color scheme and I am going to love seeing a droid that has a good heart but does not just exist to do whatever he is asked to do. The grumpy nature is going to be fun.
What I want to know:
Who he belongs to. Where he came from and how he got the look he has. Why he is grumpy did something happen to him in his past?
What Disney character he reminds me of:
Donald Duck with some Grumpy the Dwarf

Why?
I think both Donald and Grumpy truly care about their co characters but they do it in a very grumpy, pouty way. Donald is always angry about something and Grumpy tries to be but deep down you know they will always be there when you need them.
Check back next week for Part 2 that covers Kanan, Ezra and Zeb.
