The Metro: Joel Edgerton Keen To Return To ‘Star Wars’ As Uncle Owen

My latest article lands at The Metro as Joel Edgerton of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith expresses a desire to return to the saga in the pivotal role of Owen Lars.

(T)he prequel role of Owen was inherited by Edgerton and alongside his onscreen wife Bonnie Piesse as Beru Whitesun they met Anakin Skywalker for the first time, watched as Anakin accelerated his descent to the dark side and by 2005’s Revenge Of The Sith took on the responsibility of caring for baby Luke as his twin sister Leia was taken to the other side of the galaxy.

Despite the often negative reactions to the prequels, Edgerton and Piesse were always been well-regarded by fans, so it’s no surprise that in the current era of Disney movies and standalones that Edgerton would be interested in a return.

Of course, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru were blasted to a crisp in the ’77 original and the last time we saw Owen onscreen he was with baby Luke in the final shot of Revenge of the Sith, so where could the character return?
