“My blurrg may be ill-tempered, but she’s much faster than your riding machines.” – Tae Boon
Blurrgs™ might have gained the attention of many fans following their appearance in The Mandalorian™, but they have been seen across the Star Wars™ galaxy for quite some time. From rebel leaders to bounty hunters, many heroes and villains have relied on these versatile lizards.
What are Blurrgs?
These two-legged beasts of burden have short arms, clawed fingers, and large toothy mouths which can chew through almost anything edible.
Blurrgs can be found on many worlds, including Endor™, Ryloth™, and Arvala-7™.
They are egg-laying creatures, and female blurrgs will eat the male during mating season. Their powerful legs allow them to master difficult terrain and despite their cumbersome appearance, an adult blurrg can even outrun an AT-RT™!
“The way is impossible to pass without a blurrg mount.” – Kuiil
Where have Blurrgs appeared?
Originally conceived in concept sketches for Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back™, blurrgs were first introduced to fans in Ewoks: Battle for Endor™. After popping up in a variety of games, blurrgs reappeared in animated form in Star Wars: The Clone Wars™, eventually returning to screens in live action form once again with the hit show The Mandalorian.
Who rides a Blurrg?
Corralled by the moisture farmer Kuiil™, blurrgs were an important mode of transport for Din Djarin™ when his bounty was located over the treacherous terrain of Arvala-7. Although initially attacked by the blurrgs, the Mandalorian™ soon learns how to handle them, under the guidance of Kuiil. The blurrgs proved so useful that they later joined the Mandalorian and Kuiil on a mission to Navarro™, riding in the Razorcrest™.
Blurrgs have also notably been used for labor by the villainous Sanyassan Marauders™ on the Ewok’s home world of Endor, and even as heavy cavalry by clone troopers™during the Clone Wars™. Blurrgs were also vital to the Twi’lek Resistance™ on Ryloth as they fought back against the Empire.
