Darth Vader’s lightsaber, used during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi by Dave Prowse and stunt double Bob Anderson, went under the hammer yesterday at Propstore, beating expectations and selling for more than $3.65 million.
The starting bid on the lightsaber was listed at $500,000. According to the listing from Propstore, the highest absentee bid for the lightsaber reached $1.2 million ahead of the auction.
The lightsaber was originally estimated to sell between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000 and beat expectations by over 20%.
