We continue our 2020 Holiday Gift Guide with a look at some of the new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets currently available.
First up is the the Falcon & Black Widow Team Up (40418) featuring four minifigures of Black Widow, a unique Falcon with brick-built wings and two AIM agents for £13.49/$14.99/14.99€. The set also comes with a 1×1 round brick shooter.
Next up is the Iron Man Armoury (76167) for £24.99/$29.99/29.99€, which features a total of five minifigures including Tony Stark, Iron Man MKI and MKII (both with clear trans heads), and two AIM Agents. A rather basic looking Ford Flathead Roadster is included at around 10cm long, a toy crate, cheeseburger and five additional storage bays that connect to Iron Man Hall of Armour (76125). As a fan or Iron Man minifigures, the exclusive MKII armor draws me in and at the price it’s a good set on it’s own, or as an add-on to the aforementioned Hall of Armor.
More Iron Man….? The Iron Man Hulkbuster Versus A.I.M. Agent (76164) available for £34.99/$39.99/39.99€ includes a rather large version of Hulkbuster alongside minifigure versions of Iron Man, a unique version of Rescue and two generic AIM Agents. The new improved Hulkbuster justifies the increased price here, although better opponents would have been preferred.
Avengers Tower Battle (76166) is my favorite of the sets here and it is competitively priced at £79.99/$89.99/89.99€. First off the bad, two generic AIM Agents, the other five minifigures are Black Widow, Iron Man, Iron Man Blazer Armor, Iron Man Tazer Armor and Red Skull. Of these, the last four are exclusive to the set. The main build here is the Avengers Tower and this improves on the previous version and looks great, although it is quite fragile. The tower opens up and offers lots of functionality. Personally, I think it looks good on display with some of the other members of the Avengers.
The 2015 version of the SHIELD Helicarrier (76042) is a superb set and when we heard there was a new Helicarrier coming we were very excited. The Avengers Helicarrier (76153) is not to be confused with the 2015 version, this is very much a playset which resembles a Helicarrier. The new version comes with eight minifigures if which only three are exclusive to the set War Machine, MODOK and an AIM Agent with Rocket Wings. The other minifigures are Nick Fury, Thor, Black Widow, Captain Marvel and Iron Man. The Helicarrier, measuring around 37cm long, is packed with features including rotors, sphere cannons and a cockpit which accommodates three minifigures. This is a great playset and will delight children of all ages this holiday season. The Avengers Helicarrier (76153) is priced at £109.99/$119.99/119.99€.
