Sphero Rolls Back To Focus On Education & Cuts Jobs

It seems the down turn in toy sales is affecting everyone, and the 2017 holiday season hasn’t been kind to innovator Sphero either. According to TechCrunch, after a lackluster Q4 sales in 2017 the company was forced to lay off 45 staff members across the globe. Sphero has also announced a change in focus as the company looks to get away from toys and concentrate more on its growing educational business.

“We restructured our team on Friday to better align with our product needs,” a spokesperson for the company told TechCrunch. “As we look to our product development schedule for 2018 and beyond, we weren’t going to go that deep, so we had to make some changes for how the teams were structured.”

“We’re still pretty young, but the one part of our business that continues to shine is what we’re doing in education. This allows our company to focus on that vision.”

We wish Spehro the very best as they restructure and refocus.
