During John Boyega’s Popverse-moderated Spotlight panel at last weekend’s Emerald City Comic Con on the Main Stage powered by Xfinity, the actor shared his favourite Star Wars memory, “it was taking Harrison Ford to my local area and feeding him Nigerian food.”
“There are so many Star Wars memories. But this is one I’ve told before, but it’s my favorite, so I’ll tell it again,” Boyega says. “It was taking Harrison Ford to my local area and feeding him Nigerian food. What I liked about it was when he asked me, ‘I’ve just been eating chicken breast and veggies. I just want to eat something that’s from your culture.’ Because I had spoken to him about my dual citizenship, and where I’m from and stuff.”
The outing made Ford’s security anxious, which amused Boyega. “His personal security was like, ‘Where are you taking Indiana Jones?’ I was like, ‘I’m taking Indiana Jones to the hood. I’m taking him to the trenches, because he has fans there too.’ And he did. A whole bunch of Nigerians were outside the restaurant, and as soon as they saw Harrison, they were like, ‘Oh my god, are you Harrison Ford.’ And he said, ‘I used to be.’”
