The touring exhibition May The Toys Be With You, featuring more than 300 Star Wars toys and memorabilia – a must-see for any fan of the film franchise, is coming to the Maidstone Museum from July 3rd through to September 4th, 2021.
Back in 1977, the first film broke box office records, but nobody foresaw that the movie merchandise would end up earning more than the film itself. An estimated 300 million action figures were sold between 1977 and 1985, allowing children to re-enact the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo.
The collection last visited the county in 2015 when thousands packed the Beaney in Canterbury for a glimpse.
It features X-Wing fighters and lightsabers and original cinema posters, covering the period of 1977 to 1985.
Visitors could even take a selfie next to Jabba the Hutt’s ‘favourite decoration’ of Han Solo trapped in carbonite, complete with Stormtrooper guards.
Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children, with under fives free. Due to the extension of government guidelines, a maximum of 40 people are allowed in the gallery at any one time until the date restrictions are lifted, currently due to be Monday, July 19.
