Head on over to Orlando Sentinel for an article in which they provide some background information on Bob Chapek, who was recently named Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts and will be tasked with making sure Disney’s stable of theme parks keeps rolling along like the well-oiled machines they have become.
Chapek, whom Disney did not make available for an interview, now leads about 130,000 employees, more than half in Orlando. He will oversee the rollout of Disney World’s MyMagic+ into other parks, construction of the Animal Kingdom’s Avatar land and development of Star Wars attractions. Overseas, he will open Shanghai Disney Resort. Chapek also runs Disney’s time shares, cruise line and packaged-tour business.
