Report from First Day of Season of the Force at Disneyland Resort, California

Jedi News was invited to the Season of the Force Media Experience at the Disneyland Resort yesterday, Friday, April 5, 2024 to preview Season of the Force.

This year Disneyland Season of the Force will run from April 5, 2024, through June 2, 2024, with Hyperspace Mountain, themed food and beverage, merchandise and more. Debuting during the celebration, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have new fireworks above Disneyland Park on select nights with Star Wars music playing in the park.

To start the morning the media were treated to a preview of Star Tours newest destination Seatos as we flew with the Purrgils and fought alongside Ahsoka Tano with a new transmission from Din Djarin and Grogu.

During the media breakfast reception at Docking Bay 7, we had opportunity to hear from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, as well as learn more about limited-time merchandise and food and beverage offerings. In attendance was Matt Martin Sr Creative Executive, Lucasfilm and Michael Serna Executive Creative Director, Disney Live Entertainment who were both talking about Star Wars Experiences at Disneyland Resort. Also speaking to the media was Tom Fitzgerald Sr Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering who was fielding questions about Star Tours – The Adventure Continues.

A special treat was the BDX Droids coming out for the media. Utilizing new technologies developed by Disney Research and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, Imagineering’s latest free-roaming robotic characters are capable of great balance and highly expressive motions. They can support myriad character activations, like a Star Wars-inspired droid. The companion BDX Droids are scheduled to make daily appearances at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park for a limited time during Season of the Force. Guests may encounter them at various locations around Black Spire Outpost throughout the day.

I am a credentialed photojournalist and classically trained photographer working out of Southern California. My inspiration in photography has always come from the idea of protecting a memory. Capturing that moment that tells a story to share and look back on long after fleeting moments have passed. None of my fandom memories are more special to me than my memories from a galaxy far far away. From that summer day in 1977 at the Mercy Theater to whatever the latest Star Wars events are today, my Star Wars fandom has been that special place I return to for a smile, hours of enjoyment and the best friends in the galaxy. Follow along as I share pictures of anything Star Wars with you here at Jedi News.
