Taika Waititi follows up last month’s Tweet about being involved with a Star Wars film with further denials during a pre-Academy Awards luncheon, where he was interviewed about his then Oscar nominated film Jojo Rabbit.
When the interviewer mentioned a rumor about Lucasfilm approaching him, Waititi demured. “Listen, what does ‘approach’ even mean?” he said. “I’ve seen Star Wars, that’s about as far as it goes.”
We wish Waititi a huge congratulations on his Oscar win for Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit at last night’s awards, and hope he will get involved in a future Star Wars project in due course.
