2019 was an amazing year for The Silver Sabres seeing their numbers grow, new groups starting not just in the UK but France, Portugal and Denmark. Members travelled to Paris to participate in a tournament and likewise hosted their own tournament in the UK. The organisation had also begun to receive recognition as a professional group attending events nationwide. The future was looking bright and 2020 was going to be their year with further growth to come.
Like the rest of the world, The Silver Sabres were struck a devastating blow with the arrival of the current crisis, which has led to the necessity for them to evolve. No longer able to meet and train together the guys have been forced to look at a new way of keeping the light burning. Faisal Mian, who heads up The Silver Sabres, has found himself in the situation where he has been able to answer the call to allow members to learn independently by producing online education material that The Silver Sabres have made available to everyone on their YouTube Channel.

There are three main playlists available with Led Sabre Tutorials, Qigong and Meditations and a selection of Video Blogs to guide students through their training. This is something Faisal has been constantly asked for at conventions and appearances but has always had difficulty because of his commitments to physically teaching. The current lockdown has allowed him to achieve the amazing results and to evolve The Silver Sabres further.

At the same time, the group is itself changing and spreading its wings with Nick Musson stepping down as a Director of The Silver Sabres to concentrate his time on his reinvigorated Free Fighters Guild. Nick and Faisal still envisage working together to promote their shared love of LED Sabre duelling.

This has also led to a very personal change in the UK Led Sabre Open Tour being renamed The Linton Cup. Many LED Sabre owners will know the work of JQ Sabers and their close involvement with the Silver Sabres. Sadly, recently Susan Linton of JQ Sabers passed away and so in honour of the part that she has played in the growth of LED Sabre in the UK the annual tournament will carry her name. Faisal and all the groups also offer their support to her partner and soul mate Daren at this time as do us all at Jedi News. Her loss has been felt immensely but her memory will always live on through her legacy and the many Sabers worldwide wielded by enthusiasts.
At present, the date of all events including The Linton Cup is in limbo due to the current circumstances but the world of The Silver Sabres carries on online and Faisal invites you to join them on their Silver Sabers YouTube Channel and also find them on Facebook. As well as the tutorials, the group are keen to help anyone interested and would like to share this everywhere. The Qigong and Meditations playlist is particularly offered to help anyone who is struggling mentally and emotionally at this difficult.
