Alan Tudyk spoke with EW and SiriusXM at NYCC and gave some interesting comments on his part in Rogue One.
Alan Tudyk almost said no to Star Wars.
The actor, who plays droid K2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, was approached to bring the character to life by director Gareth Edwards. But as Tudyk told EW and SiriusXM at New York Comic Con, he didn’t immediately say yes.
“We sat down and talked and after the talk, he said, ‘Do you want to do it,’” Tudyk recalled. “I actually said, as long as it doesn’t go in June. Now that I think of it I’m really surprised. I was like, ‘Look, I’ve got some stipulations here.’”
As Tudyk explained, he was making Con Man, which at the time had just been crowd-funded by supportive fans. “I was like, ‘I have a responsibility here to the people who crowd-funded it to make it on time,’” he said. “I think they would have been okay with it. But luckily they said we start in July.”
Tudyk has teased bits and pieces about what to expect from K2SO before, and speaking at Comic Con explained that his droid is not part of the Empire after being reprogrammed by Diego Luna’s character in the film.
