Andy Serkis As Snoke Video, ‘The Last Jedi’ Interview With EW

As we wait for The Last Jedi‘s highly anticipated home media release to officially debut here in the US beginning March 13, Entertainment Weekly has posted a short video clip (video embedded below) showcasing the extreme talents of actor Andy Serkis in action as he portrays the sinister Supreme Leader Snoke during his encounter with Rey. In addition to the clip, EW also spoke to Serkis about the process of bringing Snoke to life.

Of interesting note is the following comment made by Serkis when asked about the backstory associated with Snoke and how willing he would be to share any new details on his character’s past:

We wanted him to have a great deal of mystery, but we did … J.J. [Abrams] and I discussed it, and Rian [Johnson] and I did discuss backstories to him, where he came from. I’ve been asked to not shed anything, should we want to bring him back in any way whether [in a] prequel or whatever. I think there’s something cool about that. It still does remain a mystery for people. I know that some people find it incredibly frustrating, but I think it allows for further exploration and layering at a further point.

Could Serkis be hinting at the return of a younger Snoke in, say, animated form as part of a new TV series from Lucasfilm Animation sometime in the future?

We shall see!
