Avengers: Endgame managed to snap Avatar out of the all-time number one box office record in just three months in 2019, but over the last few days the gauntlet has been passed back to Avatar following its rerelease in China. Both films feature effects by ILM.
With its rerelease in China this weekend, Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi pic overtook the Russos and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which had previously topped Avatar as the worldwide box office record-holder in July 2019. Through Saturday, Avatar‘s global box office is now estimated at $2.8B versus Endgame‘s $2.797B.
The Russo Brothers and Marvel Studios had this to say….
