Billie Lourd Joins Harvey Guillén and Josh Brener in ‘That Friend’

Billie Lourd (Booksmart, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) is joining Harvey Guillén (The Internship, Mickey Mouse Funhouse) and Josh Brener (Silicon Valley, Star Wars: Resistance) comedy That Friend, with cameras set to roll in December.

Written and directed by Will Sterling and Alex Wall, That Friend explores the dynamics of
friendship and growing up. Lourd will play Penny, who was just trying to have a romantic weekend away with her new boyfriend Henry (Brener) when his best friend Paul (Guillén) crashes the trip. And when Paul’s pack of drug-laced cigarettes disappear into the hands of a stranger, the night takes a turn.

That Friend production beamed, “We’re beyond excited to have Billie in this role. Not only is she a hilarious, fresh voice in comedy, but our mutual love of vastly underrated films like I Love You Man have made it clear this is going to be an awesome creative partnership. We can’t wait to get started making this movie with her!”

Lourd recently starred in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl opposite Pamela Anderson. The pic, which had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, was recently acquired by Roadside Attractions stateside, and Sony overseas as we first told you. She is also starring in the upcoming Alex Winter-directed crime dramedy Adulthood, as well as Paramount’s animated The Smurfs Movie.

Lourd has starred in the Ryan Murphy series Scream Queens and American Horror Story, the latter for five seasons.

That Friend is produced by Ryan Tillotson and Straw Hut Media. Lourd is represented by CAA.
