With so much story potential, it seems rather unfortunate that Cara Dune will not be recast following her firing by Lucasfilm earlier this month. The Hollywood Reporter have updated their article from February 17th, which discusses the situation in detail, to include a Lucasfilm source who states that the role is not expected to be recast.
Updated to add a Lucasfilm source saying that the Cara Dune role on The Mandalorian is not expected to be recast and that she was not part of the Dec. 10 presentation, nor was she engaged in negotiations for future work.
More on this as it develops.
