Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of 501st UK Garrison

The UK Garrison has shared a post on Facebook relating to their 25th Anniversary, founded on March 23rd by the late Graham Campbell, looking at what’s changed since 2020.

A quarter of a century ago, in 2000, the UK Garrison was formed. Since then the world has changed more than we could ever have imagined:

• No smartphones, no social media — Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok didn’t exist.
• Google was just two years old, and no one had heard of Wi-Fi.
• Only The Phantom Menace had been released — no sequels, no streaming, and certainly no Disney+.
• A pint cost around £2, petrol was under 80p a litre, and £1 coins still had the old chunky design.
• The UK’s best-selling song? “Can We Fix It?” by Bob the Builder, oh dear.
• The ISS had only just welcomed its first crew, Concorde was still flying, and nobody had heard of Zoom calls.

Through all of that, one thing hasn’t changed: the dedication of our members. For 25 years the UK Garrison has trooped across the country, in same of England and Wales most stunning locations, bringing the Star Wars galaxy to life, raising millions for charity, and proving that the “Bad Guys” really can do good.

Here’s to the next 25 years. The Force is strong with this family.
