We are less than four weeks away from the release of Star War: The Last Jedi, and the sequel is expected to take theaters by storm especially considering the impacts of the trailers and TV spots we’re seeing on an almost daily basis. The latest movie in the franchise is coming with a visual treat and a journey through new worlds, per the trailers and developments.
The latest full trailer for the film released about a month ago, showcased some impressive visuals and battles that seemed to be different with quarrels of Rey and Kylo Ren with their mentors. Surely, this found to have terrified Luke, especially with the raw power, and it looked like he is going to let down her.
While the trailer gives some glimpses about what can be expected in the movie, it is interesting to discuss who are all missing from the latest trailer, and the subsequent and more recent TV spots, for the installment. Here are five characters who we’ve found to be truly missing so far; even though some of them have appeared as action figures and on official merchandise.
1. General Hux
Considering his presence throughout in The Force Awakens, everyone expected his characterization in the trailer. But, he is completely absent in the new trailer/TV spots of The Last Jedi. Perhaps his presence is limited in the upcoming installment or the film makers are trying to surprise us when the movie is released.
2. Rose Tico
The prominent new character has not been seen yet on screen, although we have action figures and plenty of still photos.The characterization from franchise reveals that she is a young Resistance mechanic who teams up with Finn and assists him; there’s also the possibility that she might be a love interest for Finn too.
Kelly Marie Tran portrays the character of Rose Tico, and her first visuals came out at Star Wars Celebration Orlando in April this year. Interestingly, she has a sister, Paige Tico, who is a gunner for Resistance in the conflicts. Rose Tico will team up with Finn to carry out some mission on the casino planet of Casino Bight, which is a destination of wealthy citizen to play casinos games and racetracks.
3. Paige Tico
The human female character is also absent from the trailers and TV spots. However, it is confirmed that she is a gunner for the Resistance in the conflicts with the First Order. Paige is the sister of Rose Tico. Her character was seen for first time when the ‘Behind the Scenes’ footage of the film was released in July 2017. The confirmation of the new character also came from Director Rian Johnson as he uploaded the footage to his Twitter account. Veronica Ngo, a Vietnamese actress, characterizes the role of Paige.
4. DJ
Not much is discussed or shared about the shady character as of now. Interestingly, there is no mention of him in the trailers and reportedly he appears to be independent of the the First Order and Resistance. As of now, he is a male human slicer with unclear allegiances. According to John Boyega, DJ is an unpredictable character with his own intentions and interests. The answer is simple, he is not someone who cannot be trusted. People can expect an online slots gaming feel while watching this character. Benicio Del Toro plays DK in the film.
5. Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo
Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo is another human female character, but what we do know is that she is from the distant planet of Gatalenta. The new character is plotted as a Vice Admiral to Organa, as part of Resistance in conflicts with the First Order. She too has no mention in the trailers, but the character confirmation was revealed in a Vanity Fair article in May 2017. She also appeared in the marketing campaign of the film and is described as someone who was born in the Imperial Era. Laura Dern depicts the character Amilyn Holdo, and some people compared it to Luna Lovegood of Harry Potter series.

So far, The Last Jedi is destined to become a a worthy sequel to The Force Awakens and is bound to wow fans and others alike when it is released in cinemas in just a few weeks time. With a running time of 2 hours 30 minutes we hope to get to know a lot more about these new characters and hope they provide some surprises and twists. Now, all we have to do is continue the countdown till December 14th (UK) and 15th (North America) – we cannot wait!
