In this web exclusive, CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell talks with “Star Wars” filmmaker George Lucas and his wife, businesswoman Mellody Hobson, about the museum they co-founded devoted to honoring illustrators: The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. They discuss the museum’s origins, and the emotional pull of illustrative art in telling mythic tales.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is open six days a week, Monday 10am – 5pm, Wednesday 10am – 5pm, Thursday 10am – 5pm, Friday 10am – 9pm, Saturday 9am – 9pm and Sunday 9am – 5pm. The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. The library opens at 10am and is shut one hour before the Museum closes. The park and gardens open at 8am and close at sunset.
Museum admission is $25 for adults and $21 for seniors age 65 and over. Admission is free for children 17 and under, members, active-duty military, and LM37 passholders (current residents of the 90037 zip code). Memberships to the Lucas Museum start at $140 and offer unlimited admission, priority access, and previews.
