File this one under “boy did I miss this” for sure. Yesterday we posted the Twitter selfie photo from director Ron Howard that showed him with two Imperial officers from the set of the 2018 young Han Solo film. Howard included the hashtag #tagandbink? in the tweet, which registered nothing with me when I first saw it.
Turns out that hashtag had (unbeknownst to me) quite a bit of meaning behind it as Tag and Bink are comedic Star Wars Legends characters who headlined their own comic series back in the early 2000’s. And now those two characters are considered canon as they will both be appearing in Howard’s standalone film, with Lawrence Kasdan’s son Jon playing one of them and Toby Hefferman playing the other as stated via this tweet from Jon.
Comic series creator Kevin Rubio, who helped inform me about these two characters after I posted the initial story, thanked Howard for including his characters in the upcoming Star Wars film on Twitter with this tweet.
So there you have it. Two more characters from the Legends timeline are now part of the official Star Wars canon.
