The Precis
The Ewoks have lived peacefully for many years on the moon of Endor. But since the arrival of “The Skull Ones” and their battle station the furry Ewoks have been encountering problems. Many Ewoks live in fear of the new arrivals but some want to fight back. Those few include the princess Ewok Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka.
After a Dulok named Agluk arrives in the Ewoks village with a severed arm and trembling of fear he explains what has happened and why he needs the Ewoks help. Apparently “The Skull Ones” destroyed Agluk’s village and many fellow Dulok’s with it. The Ewok king is not so keen on aiding the Dulok but the courageous princess Ewok Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka is.
The princess and her group of fellow Ewoks voyage into the woods to investigate Agluk’s accusations. They are also weary a mystical beast who has apparently been awakened. Will Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka and her friends find the real reason for the arrival of “The Skulled Ones” or will they be destroyed by the mystical beast?
The Review
In this comic we get to see a story about Ewoks and their fellow neighbours the Duloks. Set on the moon of Endor. This story is set in the era of Return of the Jedi when Imperial forces have just started the construction of the generator planned to activate the Death Star’s force shields.
The plot is about a group of Ewoks, Princess Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, Wicket, Teebo, Catara and a mischivious Dulok named Agluk who want to investigate why the “Skull Ones” have arrived. But they get more than they bargained for as a mighty and legendary beast is awakened.
The action scenes have been layed out really interestingly. The different scenes have just been sectioned up with big white slashes, similar to war paint, instead of the usual straight lined border pages. It also reminds me of a load of pictures sprawled out, some over lapping others, which puts a real fun twist on the comic as a whole.
Little phrases like “yub yub” are also thrown in which always makes you chuckle. There aren’t many bad points to this comic, although the plot or goal of the story could have been improved, which would have then lead to a longer and more intense read. But again, that always depends on who the target reader is.
Overall, Shadows of Endor is a great little read with plenty of action, memorable phrases and good humour. For any fans of the Ewoks programs or any Ewoks at that, this is a must read.
