Jedi News Comic Review: Star Wars Dark Times: A Spark Remains #3

On Coruscant, bounty hunter Falco Sang is learning the benefits of working for the Emperor’s right hand, Darth Vader, while Vader’s lieutenant Gregg continues to scour the galaxy for surviving Jedi to purge…

After much searching, Jedi Dass Jennir and Beyghor Sahdett, along with the crew of the Uhmuele, have found the third Jedi they were seeking – Master Kai Hudorra, who had gone into hiding to escape death at the hand of the Empire.

Hudorra is displeased with their arrival, but privately, Jennir, Sahdet and Bomo Greenbark explain to him their plot to lure Darth Vader to their location, in order to defeat him with three Jedi. Unexpectedly, Sahdett is revealed to be working for the Empire…

Writer Randy Stradley, artist Doug Wheatley, colourist Dan Jackson and cover artist Benjamin Carre continue the latest storyline in the Dark Times series.

    The Review

This comic continues to live up to the expectations I have set for this series. Action, Intrigue and Depth. The action starts off immediately, as Hudorra and Beyghor and Jennir duel, losing a friend along the way, but showing ultimately that teamwork can defeat even the most powerful foe.

The emperor and Gregg have quickly become secret buddies and he leaks information on Jennir’s whereabouts to Gregg. How does he know this information, and more importantly, why does he want to keep it a secret from Vader? Therein lives the intrigue.

We get to see Vader without his mask, which is always a plus and a lenient side of Vader that he only reserves for those who are most impressive: Falco Sang and Gregg to be precise.

Also we see another person who has fallen to the Emperor. Sahett marveling at the Emperor’s power, turned to his side. Its truly amazing how a person can be corrupted by others. Its even more amazing to see the Emperor when he actually gets his hands dirty…

All in all, an amazing read and I am truly hoping this one does not die at the 4th issue like the Ninth Assassin did.
