In a casino on Kestavel, Jedi Dass Jennir and Master Hudorra discovered that a fellow Jedi, Beyghor Sahdett, was in the employ of the Empire. Before they could stop him, he alerted the Emperor to their location.
The Jedi and the crew of the Uhumele evacuated everyone they could, and then prepared a trap for whoever might be coming. But Jennir and Hudorra added a second level to the plan: a way for the crew, some of Hudorra’s employees, and the lovely Ember Chankeli to escape with their lives.
Now Darth Vader has arrived. His Star Destroyer Hound hovers above the planet with Lieutenant Gregg overseeing operations. Using his small ship, bounty hunter Falco Sang is ready to add further support, while Vader leads a ground attack…
The Review
Disappointing. Those are the best words I can use to describe the latest issue of A Spark Remains. The series had for 4 issues been building up with a cohesive and exciting plotline, only to have it watered down and completely ruined with the 5th issue.
First off, the best parts of the siege on the Lucky Twi’lek had already been shown in the first issue flash-forward, after that it was just a waste of time. Vader just waltzed in, killed Kai Huddora, pulled the same can’t-let-go-of-the-bomb telekinesis trick that he did in the last Purge comics and then escaped.
Kai Huddora had drugged Dass Jennir and got him to safety, blah blah blah. Now he’s one of the many Jedi running around the galaxy. Whatever, Jax Pavan much?
Aside from Beyghor Saddett still being alive, there were no twists or interesting moments. It was a complete buzzkill of an issue, and ruined the whole comic for me. The assassin who Vader has been culturing for two weeks, Falco Sang, did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, but give Vader a lift in his ship. Waste of a character, waste of an issue.
