The Clone Wars have come to a long-awaited end. The galaxy is now under a new government, and expected to bow to any and all dictates of Emperor Palpatine and his mysterious apprentice, Darth Vader.
A certain wealthy industrialist was not prepared for this new way of life. His son was killed at the hand of Darth Vader, and the industrialist is seeking revenge for the murder through an elite assassin.
The reach of the Galactic Empire is great; still, its power is not complete. Imperial forces remain alert for any questionable activities…or, at least, they should…
We continue latest Darth Vader mini-series with Scripter Tim Siedell, Penciller Stephen Thompson, Inker Mark Irwin, Colorist Michael Atiyeh, Letterer Michael Heisler and Cover Artist Ariel Olivetti at the helm.
The Review
In this action packed issue we get a sight into the more personal connection between Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. Overall this issue is crammed with awesome action and amazing artwork. In this issue an ancient cult based around dark magic is re-born after thousands of years with each member carrying a bomb, dedicated to killing Darth Vader and the Empire with it.
Some of the artwork also gives a glimpse of the turn over from the fall of the Republic with the half Republic, half Imperial Cruiser, and the same goes for the Storm Troopers. This exquisite artwork is so well crafted and the dialogue so well composed that the expressions at how worried Emperor Palpatine is about his clouded vision are easily visible, which I think can be quite hard considering Palpatines’ facial expressions are always stone cold. You can even tell that Darth Vader is worried through the illustrations and dialogue which is near impossible considering he has a mask on!
There are, again, many new species introduced into this comic from a cantina scene and a suicide bomb attempt at the start. Some of the “camera angles” are used really well in this issue. Like when Vader strolls into Palpatines chamber the camera angle is looking up at him showing might and power. Then as he bows to Palpatine the angle shot looks down at him from high up making Vader look small and powerless reminding the reader who’s really in control. Overall this is a well-drawn, written, and action packed series definitely for the collection!
