While Hondo Ohnaka has shown in the Galaxy’s Edge production art, the character is unlikely to return to the next season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, if Jim Cummings’ current recording schedule is a guide.
At Fan Expo Canada in Toronto, Hondo voice actor Jim Cummings was asked about roles that he’d like to revisit. After mentioning Darkwing Duck’s brief appearance in the reboot of DuckTales, he continued by saying “and they’re actually doing a reboot of Clone Wars, and you know, I’m still here,” in a dejected voice.
Cummings has a surprisingly smooth voice in real life, despite the gravel of Tigger, Pete, and Darkwing Duck. Mixed with an underwhelming audio setup, his voice was somewhat inaudible in a room of just under 500 people. That near capacity attendance, of likely 495, was despite being scheduled against the director of Ralph Wrecks the Internet in a theatre seating 1200.
Cummings has previously confirmed that he’s already recorded his voice as Hondo for Galaxy’s Edge coming next year to Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Fan Expo Canada featured a variety of Star Wars programming, despite the cancellations of Peter Mayhew for health reasons, and Billy Dee Williams and Ray Park for filming.
Programming was less, but the reveal of an upcoming Hasbro action figure of Dryden Vos with thermochromatic paint, as well as improv by Deathstar Follies, the play Emily Strikes Back, and a Star Wars collector panel all added to the success of the event.
The 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, and R2 Builders offered a variety of photo areas and activities in benefit of Make-A-Wish Canada, and numerous cosplayers attending independently of those groups.
