For those of us lucky enough to have been born in the early 70’s we were spoiled rotten to have three of the greatest cinematic visionaries at the very peak of their powers making dreams and symphonies for our childhoods. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg provided the imagery and stories while this man – the incomparable John Williams – provided the soundtracks.
Imagine E.T without those stirring strings, Indiana Jones, Superman or the Empire without their own unique marches or Schindler’s List without that violin. Don’t even try, it’s not possible.
Watch as the American Film Institute bestows its 44th AFI Lifetime achievement award on John Williams and raise a glass in his honour.
