Leslye Headland Shares Qimir’s Links to the Knights of Ren

In an excerpt from the upcoming book, The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte by Kristin Baver, showrunner Leslye Headland has shared that Qimir was destined to become the first Knight of Ren, stating “it was in the design of the character”.

“It was in the design of the character, as well as knowing that we were going to introduce Darth Plagueis, who has to end up with Palpatine as his apprentice. Following the Rule of Two – a precept that limited the Sith to just two at any given time, a master and an apprentice – one way to keep it going it is if the Stranger is the first Knight of Ren, part of a Sith-adjacent cult that we know eventually survives.”

This revelation would have connected the High Republic era to the sequels, providing a much needed backstory for the mysterious Knights of Ren.

Preorder The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk for delivery in mid-January 2026, and stream The Acolyte on Disney+ now.
