Last month Lucasfilm released a video that gave us our first look at the various mechanics that make up “Team Fireball” in the Star Wars Resistance animated TV series. During the video we caught a quick glimpse of some sort of trooper decked out in all-red armor from head to toe, something we have yet to see on screen in the Star Wars universe (Royal Guards and Praetorian Guards don’t apply in this instance).
In the article released by Lucasfilm earlier today via USA Today that focuses on providing information on the five Resistance “Aces”, the official name of this crimson-clad pilot is revealed (TIE pilot Major Vonreg voiced by Lex Lang) along with these words from Dave Filoni pertaining to this First Order pilot:
One guy who’s definitely not on the heroes’ side is Major Vonreg (Lex Lang), a First Order TIE pilot whose crimson armor and spacecraft come from an old-school inspiration.
“Every time we have a villain pilot, we would talk about, well, is this our Red Baron?” Filoni says. “And finally it’s like, let’s make one red all out. It seems to fit with the First Order, since they seem to really like that as a color.
“If the good guys have aces, the villains need them, too.”
