Episode VIII director Rian Johnson revealed that he carried around a personal camera and captured an assortment of behind-the-scenes photos during the production of The Last Jedi. He shared some of them with the Star Wars community over the past several months in anticipation of the film’s theatrical debut via social media and media/press appearances, including Star Wars Celebration.
To the extreme delight of many, Johnson told /Film during an interview segment that the plan is to release those personal photos in book format (as well as potentially making them available at an exhibit) some point down the line.
I love these behind-the-scenes photos that you’ve been posting. Are there any plans to release those in a book?
Yeah, I had that camera on my shoulder the whole shoot. I literally took thousands of shots. So we’ve been already working and on Looper, I did the exact same thing, but I just did like a little book for the crew. Because this is what it is, I think we’re gonna put together a really nice book and put it out there maybe try and do like a little exhibit or something. We print them up big or something.
Needless to say, this will be an absolute Day 1 purchase for my wife and I.
