Marvel Studios’ Loki show for Disney+ adds Richard E. Grant to the cast, opposite Tom Hiddleston, as a mystery costumed character.
Richard E. Grant has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Loki Disney+ series in an unknown role. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is returning the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4 in a brand new way. Following the character’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, the time travel missions in Avengers: Endgame set up the alternate version of Loki from 2012 who will star in the Disney+ show. This Loki is still a villain and managed to escape capture by the Avengers by using the Tesseract.
Production on Loki only recently began, but Marvel Studios already has offered up an important tease for the direction of the show. Footage released for the series showed Loki imprisoned by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) for disrupting the multiverse. This reveal clued fans in on how Loki will deal with time travel and set photos that have since surfaced might indicate Loki begins working for the TVA. The same images have also helped provide more details on who other cast members could be playing, but now there is a new addition to the ensemble.
As first reported by Discussing Film, Richard E. Grant has finalized a deal to play a mystery role in Loki. Grant most recently played Allegiant General Pryde in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and has experience with superhero properties after playing the villain in Logan. News of Grant’s casting has since been confirmed by ComicBook and The Wrap, but there is no confirmation on who he will play. That said, ComicBook reports his role is a “costumed character.” Variety also reported the news and revealed he’ll only appear in one episode.
