It’s time for our final post of 2016 and it’s a good one. Rogue One has blasted past the $700 million dollar mark worldwide in just 17 days. Enjoying its third week at the top of the North American and international box office the film hit $706,054,705, $393,554,705 of that from the States which slots it in as the 25th highest grossing film ever in North America, just ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two and six and a half million behind Frozen. Revenge of the Sith is now in the rear view mirror and up ahead is its 1977 sequel A New Hope on $460,998,007 and just a step ahead The Phantom Menace (including the 1999 original and 2012 3D release figures) on $474,544,677. That would mean that 4 of the top 10 movies in North America are Star wars epics, with one from each trilogy and – fingers crossed – the first standalone, Rogue One.
