Director Ron Howard tells The Hollywood Reporter that production on the young Han Solo standalone film is “coming along great” ever since he was selected by Lucasfilm back in June to replace directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord.
It’s only natural to assume that a film is in trouble when a directorial switch is made (especially one of the magnitude of Star Wars), but Howard’s pedigree has assuaged those feelings throughout the fan community.
Howard went on to say the following about the cast he’s been working with:
“It’s a great young cast, incredibly strong — smart, funny people who love their characters and love being part of this. I think we’ll be able to do something that is a lot of fun.”
The currently untitled Han Solo film will be arriving in theaters May 25, 2018.
