Variety.com is reporting that Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic is no longer in active development. Buried deep in their story on how Dave Filoni’s new job title may not be so new, Variety state that “Rangers of the New Republic,” is not currently in active development.
News of the show was first shared by Kathleen Kennedy as part of Disney’s Investor Day last December, and it is believed the show would feature Gina Carano playing Cara Dune in the central role. However, following the controversy surrounding comments made by Carano earlier this year she was subsequently fired by Lucasfilm leaving the new show in doubt.
We believe that Variety’s statement reflects this and we have reached out to Lucasfilm for further comment.
