Star Wars: The Old Republic: Game Update 2.9: Galactic Strongholds Producer Letter

Yesterday senior producer Bruce Maclean posted an official letter regarding the changes to the date for the Galactic Strongholds expansion coming to Star Wars The Old Republic in the coming months. The release date for Early Access has been pushed back to August 19th instead of June 24th. This extra time will allow more work to be done to expand and improve the content in the update. He explained “For this to truly feel like an expansion, it needs to include the full set of features, including those originally coming later in the year.” The official launch date for people not in Early Access is October 14th.

The final result sounds very exciting and involved, and it’s nice to see them taking their time to ensure the best results. A new Stronghold was also announced, a Tatooine Homestead!

In the letter he also discussed what features will be included such as customisation of your Stronghold with your vehicles and pets placed within it. Guilds are also getting additional content with this update; guilds can conquer planets in weekly events, which earns rewards. With a guild leaderboard system, this will add an extra incentive and competitive edge.
