When Industrial Light & Magic closed its Kerner Boulevard facility, Adam Savage stepped in to preserve a piece of cinematic history: the original parts and materials racks. Joined by legendary model maker Lorne Peterson, Adam takes a deep dive into the physical organization, problem-solving methodologies and materials — from Plastruct shapes and domes to model kit greeblies — that built the original Star Wars trilogy and other iconic films. Lorne shares incredible behind-the-scenes stories, including fabricating phone booths out of plastic domes to escape shop noise, the transition from LA to San Rafael, and the creative camaraderie that defined the golden age of practical visual effects.
