The subject of cameos played by cast/crew members has been a fun topic for discussion in the new Disney Star Wars films. We had several noteworthy character cameos throughout the Prequels (George Lucas, Ben Burtt, Rick McCallum, etc) and that aspect has continued as Star Wars forges ahead with new storytelling from Disney.
While the focus is primarily on the cameos that actually made it into the final cut of each film, this latest story takes a step back and sheds some light on a big-time Hollywood actor’s interest in being part of a Star Wars film, but ultimately not seeing that opportunity come to fruition. During an interview with JOE.ie, director Ron Howard revealed that Tom Hanks was looking to play a Stormtrooper in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but unavoidable circumstances prevented it from happening. The topic of Hanks’ potential Stormtrooper cameo starts off at the 02:18 mark of the YouTube video embedded below.
