Beskar Ingot Drive Special Edition FireCuda NVMe SSD 1 TB Review

Star Wars themed PC components are not new — from graphics cards to mice, you can customise your computer in a variety of ways to highlight your passion for the Galactic Empire or the Rebellion. New to the market from Seagate are a trio of three different types of hard drives, themed to look like Beskar ingots from the award-winning Disney+ show The Mandalorian. In the Star Wars galaxy, Beskar ingots are melted down to create Mandalorian armour, and the resultant coverings are known for their remarkable ability to withstand damage from blaster shots and lightsaber strikes.

Seagate has chosen to customise three of its top end FireCuda hard disks — an external hard drive, and M.2 NVMe and SATA SSD internal drives — creating the Beskar Ingot Special Editions.

Seagate sent us the Beskar Ingot Special Edition FireCuda PCIe Gen4 NVMe SDD to unbox and test. It features an advanced custom-built low-profile heatsink designed by EKWB, which resembles a Beskar ingot, infused with the Imperial cog. The heatsink helps to keep the system running at peak performance, with reduced temperatures, and it looks fantastic.

Opening the box reveals the drive, an A6 print featuring The Mandalorian, four sheets of stickers, instructions, warranty information and a Rescue data recovery plan. One of the sticker sheets includes six exclusive Mandalorian inspired decals.

The drive itself is based on the FireCuda 530 range of drives, and it offers exceptional performance and endurance as one of the best drives in its class. The 1TB drive’s rated sequential read and write speed is 7,300/6,000 MB/s, and it is blisteringly quick — up to 12x faster than standard SATA SSD drives — so it is fast enough for even the most demanding user.

Installing the drive was very easy, it slipped into an M.2 slot on our motherboard and it was instantly recognised on the next boot. The drive comes with all the tools you need to monitor health and performance, with free DiscWizard and SeaTools software.

As well as being perfect for Star Wars fans, the drive is the perfect addition to any gaming PC, whose users demand the best performance and reliability, backed by Seagate’s industry leading 5-year warranty and 3-year Rescue Data Recovery Services.

All three different types of Seagate Beskar Ingot Special Edition drives are available to purchase now from Amazon — USA and UK.

Thanks to Seagate for sending us the drive to review.
