We’ve known about Electronic Arts’ plans for a sequel to their hit video game Star Wars Battlefront for several months now, but details on the development of the game have been sparse at best. The staff over at EGM have compiled an article that rounds up all of the information about this upcoming title that has been released so far, including a section called “What we think we know” and another one labelled “What we still want to know” (pretty self explanatory, no?)

Where in the Star Wars timeline will Star Wars Battlefront II be set?
Each Battlefront game must fall somewhere in the cinematic universe, and Star Wars Battlefront II will pull from the new trilogy that began with The Force Awakens. The recent Star Wars Battlefront focused on the original trilogy, so the upcoming sequel will be following the chronological order. Concept art from the game has been spotted showing battles against the film’s The First Order, suggesting the game could even give some sneak peaks into settings or moments that happen later in the film trilogy. It is unclear if the sequel will branch out from the current film trilogy or stay rooted to its source material as the first game did, but either way, we know where and when we’ll be hanging our blasters.
When will Star Wars Battlefront II launch?
The upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II does not currently have a release date, but we know it is making it out in 2017—or at least that’s the plan. During an investors call earlier this year, publisher Electronic Arts claimed that it would launch “a year from now,” putting it in fall 2017. It is presumably safe to predict it will land on all the same platforms as the first game.
