You May Want To Hold Off Buying ‘Battlefront II’ On Launch Day

I’m pretty sure we’re all in agreement when I say we’re always looking for ways to save money and keep more of our republic credits in our wallets, especially when it comes to secondary spending such as entertainment. So with that in mind, fans may want to reconsider picking up Electronic Arts’ Star Wars Battlefront II the instant it hits store shelves on November 17. Why you ask? Because according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen, there’s a good chance gamers will be able to grab their copy of Battlefront II at a discounted price with the holiday shopping season upon us right after the title’s launch date later this month.

“We will most likely discount the game like we did last time around the movie launch,” Jorgensen said. “Maybe you’ll even see some selective discounts around the holidays, either Thanksgiving or Christmas. That’s the way the games business always has worked. And so if you see the title on discount, don’t read anything into that other than the fact that that’s the way you sell games in the holidays.”

While nothing is 100% set in stone as of now, fans can reasonably expect Battlefront II to come in at a lower price, maybe $5 or even $10 less than regular MSRP during the mad dash holiday shopping season. Or maybe the game will come packaged in holiday shopping bundles with a gift card and/or a special rebate. In any event, are the prospects of acquiring the game shortly after launch day with a little less strain on your cash flow enticing enough for you to pass on the game come November 17? Only you and your wallet know the answer to that question.
