The start of December brings the countdown to Christmas, and today we open the first door of the LEGO Harry Potter (#76404) and LEGO The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (#76231) Advent Calendars.
This year marks the fourth LEGO Harry Potter and second LEGO Marvel calendar, the latter themed to the recent Disney+ The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The Harry Potter calendar is broken down into three doors for each film starting with the first, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, so let’s see what’s behind today’s doors.
The first day of the LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar brings us a microbuild of Ollivander’s wand shop from the first film, constructed from thirty-three pieces, with four spares. The build is instantly recognisable, almost perfectly depicting the shop’s distinctive windows.
Behind the door of the LEGO The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special we get our first minifigure, Peter Quill as Star-Lord. The minifigure features two facial expressions, new hair, a previously used torso, found in The Guardian’s Ship (#76193), and plain legs. It seems a missed opportunity not to have included the dual moulded legs from The Guardian’s Ship too. He comes complete with quad blasters in pearl silver, and for the first time brick-built boot thrusters. There are a total of ten pieces used with just one spare.
