LEGO Store Star Wars Day Gifts Reviewed

There are three Gift with Purchases (GWPs) available at LEGO Stores in-store and online for Star Wars Day starting May 1st and running through to May 5th while stocks last, including the Trade Federation Troop Carrier, Battle of Yavin Coin and AAT.

First up with a spend of €40/$40/£35 or more on LEGO Star Wars products is the AAT polybag (#30680) consisting of 75 pieces. This small set commemorates the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace and also LEGO Star Wars. It’s a quick build and the AAT is instantly recognisable. Unfortunately, this set was available in some US stores earlier this year, so it won’t be new for all.

The second item, the Battle of Yavin Coin (#5008818) is only available to LEGO Insiders with a spend of €90/$90/£80 or more on LEGO Star Wars products. If you’re not already a LEGO Insider, then it’s free to join and you can sign up ahead of time here or in-store at the point of purchase.

The Coin is quite hefty coming in at 54g and measuring almost 50mm in diameter. Between the two pieces of metal at the top is a plastic hanging piece depicting the outline of an X-wing in red. This plastic piece swings from side to side to replicate a TIE pilot getting the X-wing in its target. The back of the coin resembles the cockpit of a TIE fighter. It’s quite a nice piece although we’d also prefer something brick related.

The final GWP available with a spend of €160/$160/£145 or more on LEGO Star Wars products is a recreation of the Battle Droid Carrier (#7126) released in 2001 from The Phantom Menace, the Trade Federation Troop Carrier (#40686). This set features 262 pieces including 2 unique pilot battle droids and 6 regular battle droids along with a 25th Anniversary LEGO Star Wars brick.

Like the AAT polybag, this set also commemorates the 25th anniversary of the first prequel film and the start of LEGO Star Wars. It’s a great looking set that is likely to appeal to a wide audience, especially since it includes a couple of unique pilot battle droids. The only criticism being that many will want more than one, and that makes for a peculiar set to offer as a GWP with a high spend threshold.

All these GWPs stack, so if you spend €160/$160/£145 or more in-store or online on LEGO Star Wars products you will get all three items provided you’re a LEGO Insider. Stock of GWPs is likely to sell through quickly, so get your orders in as soon as possible online.

In addition to the GWPs there will also be double and quadruple LEGO Insider points on select sets, and some sets will also be reduced. Those discounted sets will likely be excluded from any additional Insider points.

Finally, if you have 1800 LEGO Insider points you can redeem them for an A3 poster designed by Joe Hogan depicting several LEGO Star Wars minifigures, including a couple not yet released. There is also a 25th anniversary LEGO Star Wars Coin featuring the original LEGO Star Wars logo that is available for 1500 LEGO Insider points. Be aware, you must redeem the code for the poster or coin with an online order, and only one code can be redeemed per order.
