The Plot:

To catch up with the series so far, go here….

The story follows Dr Aphra and her companions after she has evaded Vader’s wrath, she can now get on with her normal day job, archeology, or so she thinks as she owes a load of credits and must evade detection from the Empire………

Aphra and her crew are on Yavin 4 looking at an Imperial encampment, housed in and around a familiar looking Massassi temple. Aphras dad is shocked to learn that a Rebel base was once here, a certain Death Star has been destroyed by the Rebellion and his daughter previously worked for Darth Vader! By his own admission he has not been keeping up to date with the Holonet news. His lack of understanding and knowledge of the recent Galactic events annoys Aphra, especially given his knowledge of the Jedi.

Inside the Massassi temple the Imperials detect what they think could be an coded Rebel signal. Captain Tolvan, a female cyborg Imperial officer dressed in an grey officer’s uniform informs another officer to send some troopers out to investigate.

A group of Biker Scouts leave the base to investigate on their speeder bikes only to be stopped in their tracks by an angry crossbow wielding Wookie in the form of Krrsantan, who proceeds to mercilessly destroy the troopers and create carnage.

Captain Tolvan sees a plume of smoke on the jungle horizon and sends her remaining troops out into full combat mode.

It appears this was a cleverly planned distraction by Aphra. Whilst the Imperial base is empty of troopers the two psycho droids Triple Zero and Bee tee stroll through the front doors of the base and into a ship hangar. Astromech Bee tee hooks into the system and opens up some ceiling vents from which Aphra and her dad abseil down from the open vents. The droids, now joined by Aphra and her dad make their way through the temple and into a chamber where the dad reveals he is carrying a bag of strange crystals that are somehow linked to the ancient Aspectu people that he has spent time studying, he instructs Aphra to put the crystals into the corresponding holes on the chamber floor like a giant puzzle, akin to something like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft. He reveals that the end result should show them the way to a hidden Citadel.

Meanwhile back in the jungle Krrsantan the Wookie is still kicking Imperial butt, this time by pulling the guns right off the side of the head of an AT-ST!?

Back at the temple, the crystal floor puzzle is complete, but to the group’s disappointment nothing happens. Aphra seizes the opportunity to tell her dad about his past failings as a Father and Husband by favouring his archeological work over his family life, suddenly the temple reveals its secrets,

To be Continued……..

The Review:

This is turning into a good story arc.

A few good things tied into other and current storylines. Jedha is mentioned, as is the Battle Of Yavin.

Other highlights of note are the introduction of Captain Tolvan, the female Imperial cyborg and when the killer protocol droid Triple Zero tells a an Imperial interrogation droid (floating black ball with the needle in A New Hope) that he admires its work, I thought this was a good touch.

The story is definitely heating up now and the future issues are sure to follow suit.

I cant fault the art either, its fantastic throughout!

Can’t wait for the next issue!
