Saesee Tiin must travel to a snowy planet to intercept separatist research. But after starting his mission he already gets into trouble with the local gang. He manages to escape to then get caught by Snow Droids. He and his new pick pocket friend are imprisoned at a top secret separatist base. With his mission still standing and a new friend to protect, how will it all end in ‘It Takes a Thief’
Then Clone Commando squad code named H.O.P.E receives a distress beacon from Jedi Master Treetower. They don’t know what they’re up against but it’s going to be one hell of a hard fight as precision in this mission is paramount. What threat lurks unknown to the Clone squad and will they be able to defeat it in time to save the Jedi Master as well in ‘The Drop’.
Master Ki-Adi-Mundi must comfort his Padawans in the face of battle. When the battle commences it seems that victory is favoring the republics side. But then, droid forces manage to take out one of the republics colossal command vessels and it starts to fall towards the direction of the battlefield where Ki-Adi-Mundi’s injured padawan lay. Will the damaged vessel be stopped or destroy the battle field and the Padawan with it? Find out in ‘To the Vanishing Point’.
Finally, Plo Koon and Kit Fisto have been sent to the M’Bardi prison deep in the Outer Rim to control a prison riot. But Kit Fisto and Plo Koon both have different ways of dealing with the decision. But they must decide quickly as bounty hunter Durge is after them! Will they be able to work together, defeat Durge and control the riot? Find out in ‘Means and Ends’
The Review
In the first story with Saesee Tiin we get to see these cool new Super heavy snow droids, already a feast for the eyes and brain. We also get to see a first glimpse of Imperials in this comic collection which has a strange effect on the reader of surprise and seriousness. In the second story there seems to be a bit of visual humor as Clone Troopers are deployed to a pink fluffy clouded planet with umbrellas as their parachutes. This story is also written as a sort of after action report where everything is scripted and explained purely through narrative boxes
The last story featuring Plo Koon and Kit Fisto seems incredibly graphic and violent for a kids aimed comic. In my opinion I think this actually ruins the rest of the volume but for an older reader it may be more usual and interesting. We also see strong disagreement between the two Jedi masters which we’ve never encountered before. Although I think this is great because we find out a little more about each of the Jedi which we wouldn’t have known before!
I seemed to have noticed as well that all the Jedi starred in this volume are to be drawn with immense anger and muscle, especially in the last story. This is quite interesting because they are never normally portrayed as this. It also creates an un-comfy read due to the fact that you haven’t seen them in this way before. Overall though, I think this volume could be a thrilling read depending on how you like your characters portrayed but does have some slightly negative effects.
